DFW Dog Training Programs – Best Dog Training in Texas!

Heart of Texas Dog Training specializes in the resolution of dog behavior problems in Fort Worth and the surrounding area. We’ve found that in-home dog training is the most effective way to treat dog behavior problems – this means we travel to you!

Setting up for success

Regardless of the issues your dog is experiencing, we’ll begin training in your home environment. Our goal is always to be as far to the dog as possible, which is why we take care to set your dog up for success from the beginning. We do this by giving your dog time to learn the new skills required for good behavior. Only after he/she has a solid understanding of these new skills will we begin distraction training.

Distractions

It IS possible to expect reliable, good behavior from your dog in all situations! The way to ensure this is to train with distractions. Distraction training (or “proofing”) will be customized to your dog’s individual needs. We’ll first begin with low-level distractions – perhaps that’s a person entering a room, someone ringing the doorbell, or the sound of the neighbor’s dog barking. Once we’ve “proofed” low level distractions, it’s time to move on to more challenging distractions. For example, if your dog reacts to the sight of other dogs, it’s time to go for a walk in a busy neighborhood! The more challenging we make our training scenarios, the more reliable your dog will become.

Lessons in public

In-home dog training is the way to begin successful dog behavior training, but lessons in public are still necessary! As part of every dog training program, we always include lessons in public so that no matter what the situation, both you and your dog know how to respond.

Is behavior change possible??

YES! Many trainers who are incapable of creating lasting behavior change will tell you that you have to “live with” your dog’s behavior issues. While there is value in learning to accept and embrace your dog’s individual personality and needs, this does NOT mean your dog should suffer from bad behavior forever! Bad behavior is never a representation of a “happy” dog and we don’t believe either you or your dog should just live with a behavior problem.
